The Airai State Legislature (Palauan: Olbiil ra Ngerchumelbai) is the unicameral legislature of Airai, one of Palau's sixteen states. The legislature is composed of fifteen elected members, nine elected at-large and one for each of the state's six hamlets.[1][2] Members are elected for four-year terms.[3]
The legislature is granted significant authority from the state constitution, including the power to impeach the state governor and override the governor's veto by a two-thirds majority vote.[1][3]
In addition to the legislature, the six traditional chiefs of Airai are organized in the extra-legislative Airai Council of Chiefs. The chiefs serve as an advisory body to the state governor in matters of traditional laws and customs.[1][3]
