Dr. Jacob Eapen is a global pediatrician and a renowned public health physician. After completing his MBBS from Trivandrum Medical College Dr. Eapen continued his post-graduation both at Christian Medical College Vellore and CMC Ludhiana. Then he was a consultant pediatrician with Aga Khan Foundation hospital in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania and then took up an assignment with University teaching hospital in Nigeria for 3 years. In 1984 he proceeded to USA for further studies and attended the University of California, Berkeley for his Masters in Public Health. Then he took an assignment with the United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees (UNHCR) where he was responsible for the lives of about 60,000 Indo-Chinese refugees. After his return he completed his MD from University of Stanford at Palo Alto. Currently he serves as the medical director of Alameda Health System one of the largest public health systems in California. He is a well-recognized international public health consultant and has given several media presentations and guest lecture around the world. He has served in several State health care boards in California on a State level and also a recipient of several awards.

  • Served in the Association of California Healthcare Districts Hospitals. (ACHD)
  • Served in the California Hospital Association (CHA)- 500 Hospitals.
  • Appointed as the Health Advisor to the Government of Kerala.
  • First Asian Health Advisor to the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Philippines.
  • Served as A consultant pediatrician for Aga Khan foundation in Dar-Es Salaam, Tanzania.
  • Worked in the pediatric faculty in the University of Sokoto, Sokoto. Nigeria.
  • Recipient of the “Mother Teresa Award” by Friends of the South Asian American Communities (FOSAAC).
  • Recipient of the Achievement Award by the Federation of Malayalee Association of America (FOMMA).
  • First Indian to win a general election in Northern California when he got elected with 30,000 votes to the board of director of a local community hospital, Washington Hospital (Fremont, CA). Since then he has been re-elected 6 times and currently serves his 19th year in the board. A billion dollar hospital ranked in the top 100 best hospitals by US News And World report.
  • Currently retired as the medical director of Alameda Health Systems, one of the largest public health systems in California.
  • Recipient of Distinguished alumni award from Trivandrum Medical College.
  • Recipient of Life Time Achievement award from Trivandrum medical college.
  • Recipient of Life Time achievement award from Sainik School, Kazhakoutam, Trivandrum.
  • Currently serving as Regional Vice President of Federation of Kerala Association in North America (FOKANA).
