Franklin Obeng-Odoom is a political economist, specialising in urban and regional economics, political economy of development, stratification economics, and the political economy of natural resources. He is currently Professor of Global Development Studies at the University of Helsinki, Finland.[1] He previously taught at several universities in Australia.[2]
Obeng-Odoom is a member of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences and Academy of Social Sciences.[2]
Early life
Franklin Obeng-Odoom was born in Ghana, His grandfather was a post colonial judge and also worked as a choirmaster and organist in the Methodist Church. As a school boy Obeng-Odoom used to sell mixed crops at the local market while studying in a school. He completed his bachelor degree in land economy in Ghana before studying urban economic development in England and political economy in Australia.[3]
