Admittedly the category has been created earlier than needed but as the international 2008-09 season will start in a few weeks time it is reasonable to assume that it will then acquire several entries. Note also that it is part of an established category structure and is the next in sequence. BlackJack | talk page 20:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CSD#C1 does not exempt categories that are likely to acquire members in the future, nor categories that are part of an established category structure. This should be deleted, and recreated once it is ready to be populated. 140.211.8.8 (talk) 20:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you would like to join Wikipedia? Guidelines are just that: they are not to be applied rigidly and the important point here is that the category is part of an established structure. If you are pursuing this as a bona fide contributor, then please establish a membership.
I see you have been warned previously about vandalism so I am assuming that this is more of the same and I am removing the tag. BlackJack | talk page 06:24, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the speedy deletion criteria is policy, not a guideline. Also, this is a shared IP address, it was a different user or users who did the vandalism that is previously attributed to this account. 140.211.8.8 (talk) 20:51, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All the more reason, then, for you to establish a bona fide membership for yourself. BlackJack | talk page 03:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is surely moot, given that the cat is now populated. And the IP is exactly as bona-fide as you and I. You could try a bit harder to assume good faith. Kevin (talk) 03:35, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder what percentage of IP address edits to cricket pages are done in good faith? Lets say somewhat less than 100%. As you say, it is now moot, but if I suspect vandalism or trolling I will revert it or at least challenge it. I suggest we close this discussion except to reiterate that it is in the best interests of anyone who wishes to contribute on a more than occasional basis to establish a membership. Which, after all, is just as anonymous as an IP address if you withhold your e-mail address: indeed, more so, since we know that 140.211.8.8 is the University of Oregon.
