People should not be included in categories such as this unless their former religion is notable in relation to both of Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. Wikipedia:Categorization of people states:

Category tags regarding religious beliefs and sexual preference should not be used unless two criteria are met:
  • The subject publicly self-identifies with the belief or preference in question;
  • The subject's beliefs or sexual preferences are relevant to the subject's notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources.

Tim Pawlenty should be added to list of former Catholics. Many conservative Republican Catholics have taken a liking to him but don't realize that he is a former Catholic. Conservative Catholics won't vote for a former Catholic.Prattlement (talk) 18:43, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Roger Ebert was not a former Catholic. Even his wikipdia article says he had a Catholic funeral.24.155.250.20 (talk) 21:30, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

While I see your point, you might as well argue the other way around per WP:NOTFINISHED. Ergo: If you want to make a more complete category tree, feel free, but until then, shouldn't the more generic implications prevail? PPEMES (talk) 11:22, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
