considerably incomplete

As of early 2010, this category (and probably the individuals articles which should exist and be within it) is quite incomplete.

There are something around 100 crops that were grown for food in the Amazon prior to Columbus. There are anthropologists who believe that the Amazon was largely maintained by humans as an orchard, probably uniquely in the world, thus accounting for the fact that Europeans seem to have missed what was present right in front of htier eyes. Few are still in cultivation, the European model have dominated, but they are still, to the extent they have not been deforested, present.

There should be articles for each of them, and they should be present in this category. 74.88.219.178 (talk) 16:00, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that this, and related articles, are very incomplete. A fair list of foodstuffs in this hemisphere is found in Native American cuisine. Please feel free, 74.88.219.178, to get started on an expansion! I'll be happy to help. WBardwin (talk) 00:49, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
