University of Salamanca is not a Catholic University. In the city of Salamanca there are two Universities. The older and famous is public and laica www.usal.es

There is a modern Catolic University, UNIVERSIDAD PONTIFICIA DE SALAMANCA www.upsa.es created to recover the abandoned religous studies of the original University of Salamanca, mainly teology and phylosophy.
