The New York Loyalist Petition of November 28, 1776, commonly known as the Loyalist Declaration of Dependence, signed by 547 Loyalists in response to the Declaration of Independence in July 1776, proclaimed the loyalty and fealty of a number of prominent New York-area colonists to King George III and the continued sovereignty of the British Empire over the North American colonies.
