Note: The Pac-12 Conference was known by the following names in its pre-2011 history:
- Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) – Official name from the conference's formation in 1959 to June 1968.
- Big Five – Unofficial name of AAWU, beginning in 1959; used until Washington State joined in July 1962.
- Big Six – Unofficial name of AAWU, beginning in July 1962; used until Oregon and Oregon State joined in July 1964.
- Pacific-8 Conference – Unofficial name of AAWU, beginning in July 1964; officially adopted in July 1968. Used until Arizona and Arizona State joined in July 1978.
- Pacific-10 Conference – July 1978 to June 2011; (33 years).
Also, although the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) operated under a separate charter from its establishment in December 1915 until its dissolution in the spring of 1959, the Pac-12 claims the PCC's history as its own. By July 1964, eight of the final nine PCC members had reunited in the AAWU/Pac-8.
All standings templates from 2010–11 and earlier should reflect the name used in that period.
