The RCN awards Honorary Fellowships to:

  • nurses registered outside the UK of international repute and distinction who have made an exceptional contribution to nursing or health care, or
  • to individuals who are not nurses but have had a significant impact on nursing or health care.

In recent times the College has awarded up to three Honorary Fellowships each year.
