Category for disbanded collective municipalities in Germany. They are called Amt (plural, Ämter) in the Bundesländer (federal states) of Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg, Samtgemeinde in Lower Saxony, Verbandsgemeinde in Rhineland-Palatinate, and Verwaltungsgemeinschaft in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
