This category contains articles of confirmed archaeological sites where the Muisca established their advanced Andean pre-Columbian civilisation, called the Muisca Confederation. The category also contains sites from before 800 BCE, the commonly accepted "start date" of the Muisca, following the pre-Muisca Herrera Period and Andean preceramic back until the prehistory of the latest Pleistocene of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense and adjacent valleys at altitudes between 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) and 3,300 metres (10,800 ft) (average around 2,700 metres (8,900 ft)) in the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes.
