Bakhtiar (Persian: بختيار), also Romanized as Bakhtīār and Bakhtyār,[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Tankaman-e Shomali Rural District of Tankaman District, Nazarabad County, Alborz province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 3,064 in 753 households, when it was in the former Tankaman Rural District of Tankaman District, Nazarabad County, Tehran province.[5]

In August 2010, Karaj County, Nazarabad County, and Savojbolagh County were separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[6]

The latest census in 2016 counted 3,520 people in 1,055 households, by which time the village had been transferred to the newly established Tankaman-e Shomali Rural District.[4] It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]
