Beefheart edits

Hi Sir Richardson
I note your corrs to my 1st para here Captain Beefheart.
The main point I am trying to make early here (I touch upon it in a later edit) is the FACT that the band are titled in two different forms. "His" & "The".
Whilst it may seem superficial at first glance, it does seem to have profound effect on how some discographies of his work are constructed.
"The" is the primary reference, whilst "His" was a short-lived 'fad'. It is also a distinct 'tracker' to the release of archived works.
It also strongly indicates Beefheart's emergence from simply being a band member & a recognition of the members 'in their own right'
i.e. "Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band" to "Captain Beefheart" & "The Magic Band"
Maybe you can consider?

Question: Understand the 'title' of a recording is italic, with its tracks in quotes - however, for singles should the titles not be in italics? (As this is the 'title' of the work) I'm a bit confused on that one!

A number of singles, I refer to, are 'stand alone' titles and not issued from albums. Thus, I believe they need to be italicised (for the A-sides at least)?

Re: David Icke

You recently claimed that the addition of David Icke to the category Antisemitism in the United Kingdom was "unfounded, libelous and POV". However, it is a matter of historical fact that 1) antisemitism in the United Kingdom is an acceptable category, and 2) David Icke has promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories in his books, such as claiming that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is real, and he has flirted with Holocaust revisionism, etc. If you disagree with that category, perhaps you can recommend another category that is reflected by the sources? The fact that Ron Paul is one of the 20 most admired men in the world according to the highly respected gallup poll of americans and the only congressman to achieve that distinction is an extremely prestigious and notable honor that should not just be arbitrarily removed from his article. Unless laziness gets the best of my I usually take a lap at the end of the year to check the articles, lists, topics and pictures that get promoted to Featured status and match the relevant material against our project. If the material is within our scope then I add the editor's name to a list of contributors who should be recognized for the contributions to military history. In this case, two of your featured picture credits for 2014 - Neil Armstrong after moonwalk and Richard Nixon and Elvis Presley - pinged on my review radar, in the former case because Neil Armstrong was an officer in the US Navy before joining NASA, and in the latter case because Nixon served in the US Navy before becoming president. In both cases, your contributions for the project were noted, thus you were awarded a barnstar from us for helping us even though it appears that you were unaware of the assistance you provided. As a general rule, categorising a living person as a criminal should be done cautiously and sparingly due to the WP:BLP issues involved. A person with a minor conviction is technically a criminal, but it may not be what they are best known for. Crowley and the New Age

Hi JJA! Regarding Crowley and "New Age", I'm really not sure if the link between the two is strong enough to warrant the actual inclusion of this box. The New Age (movement) draws heavily upon a huge range of earlier esoteric and in particular occult influences, but of them Crowley is certainly not a major influence, whereas (for instance) Theosophy and New Thought were. If you look at the academic studies of the New Age phenomenon by the likes of Hanegraaff, Heelas, or Sutcliffe you will see plenty of mentions of Swedenborg and Blavatsky but very few of Crowley. Crowley was instead a far greater influence on esoteric currents like Wicca, Chaos Magic, modern religious Satanism, and various other forms of ceremonial magic. Hi,

Could you point me to a rule which states that this category "is for real life subjects" only? If there is such a rule, we will also have to remove (for instance) Category:Child abuse in fiction from Category:Works about child abuse (because the latter is a subcategory of Category:Child abuse).

That seems like a stretch of logic. It is appropriate for a piece of fiction about child abuse to be included in a category about child abuse in fiction, as a subcategory of general child abuse topics. However the category "Child sexual abuse in the United Kingdom" is about actual real life cases of CSA, which is why a novel should not be there. JJARichardson (talk) 19:35, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Re: Hitler classification (criminal), I had already put a message on the article talk page as to whether the classification is apt. My reasoning is that 'criminal' as a noun, usually refers to a professional criminal, rather than anyone who has, at some time, been convicted of a crime or spent time in prison (Gandhi? Mandela? + many other political figures, both attractive and notorious). Had AH lived of course he would have been tried (and almost certainly found guilty), of war crimes. But let us see what other editors think about the aptness of the classification.
