Thanks for the Bach music! Happy Easter to you as well. Perhaps someday the MoS will change. I'm sympathetic to the concerns of folks who worry that infoboxes tempt folks to add too much trivia, though I think eschewing an infobox entirely is an overcorrection. I tend to avoid joining large public Discord servers because I find them overwhelming. As for jointly crafting a case request—I'm impressed by your initiative and humbled by the realization that it's sort of immoderate for me to have suggested doing something that I don't feel ready to do it myself. English Wikipedia's investments in Anglo–American empires and their shadows are steep; your impression of the downplaying in other articles about indigenous relations/eliminationism in various British settler colonies is the tip of an iceberg that only has occasional and semi-random exceptions. But the depth of this investment means challenging it is difficult. Extreme action is more likely to happen against technicalities (or even ordinary behavior stretched into being interpreted as technicalities or worse) in comparatively inconsequential edits by/about minority populations than against distortions in high-profile edits by/about the architects of Anglo empire and their descendants. I think the success of the case example I linked depended on the research labor of a professional academic as well as the whitewashing at issue not being about any Anglo–American empires (Gentile Polish privilege is different from British/Australian/etc. imperial privilege): a scale of effort I don't think I have the capacity to match and a circumstance our concerns don't share, respectively. I could say I'm open to helping revise or fine tune a case request but not investigate, but then that's thrusting all the research necessary on you, which seems like it wouldn't be fair to you.

Sorry for any disappointment on this front. It's at least encouraging to know one is not alone in the impression of at least one of English Wikipedia's troubles. Hydrangeans (she/her | talk | edits) 15:14, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
