Potted description of 57mm / 6-pdr Molins Gun altered to reflect the fact that, by the time of its introduction, the boats on which it was mounted were largely armed with torpedoes in addition to guns; in 1943 the RN had reclassified all short MGBs (motor gun boats) which were being retained and the vast majority of 'D' type MGBs as MTBs, with some reallocation of pennant numbers. Only 'C' type and Camper & Nicholson MGBs retained the MGB designation in home waters and none of these carried the Molins Gun as far as I can determine. In fact, the C&N '1943' type which did carry it were explicitly MTBs, with four 18-inch tubes.
Therefore, modified brief description by link. 2A00:23C7:3119:AD01:ED61:5F55:F60F:A881 (talk) 01:41, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
