Features

  • Does this phone close up? You know, like a razr. This being the primary and only reason for buying a razr to avoid ass-dialing the boss and unwittingly presenting him with your tourette's problem. If this phone does not close or allows dialing when closed then it is an epic fail for the name razr. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.250.99.163 (talk) 19:25, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: articles moved. The fact that the shorter titles already redirect to the longer ones is the argument that clinches it. fish&karate 14:36, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

– "Droid RAZR" answers our naming criteria questions better than "Motorola Droid RAZR" across the board. Recognizability is a wash ("Droid" is universally known as a cell phone, especially among those readers likely to be searching for that topic), the official name is "Droid RAZR", not "Motorola Droid RAZR", and is more natural, precision is wash, the proposed title is obviously more concise, and it's consistent with other articles about smartphones, like iPhone and Galaxy Nexus.

Droid RAZR already redirects here so this topic is the primary topic; that's not an issue. Similar argument for all the other Droids. While Droid requires disambiguation, and is naturally disambiguated at Motorola Droid by adding the manufacturer to the title, none of these other uses requires disambiguation, and so including the manufacturer in the title is unnecessary precision. International name?

I went around Motorola sites in different countries, and this "Droid RAZR" is more commonly named as "Motorola RAZR" or sometimes appended with "XT910". Apparently the name "Droid RAZR" is only used in United States and I am curious why this page is not called "Motorola RAZR" instead.

I agree disambiguation from the previous feature phones (V3, V8, V9, ...) might be a problem, but this does not mean "Motorola RAZR" is not a more well-known name of Motorola RAZR, especially after Motorola RAZR was launch worldwide. – PeterCX&Talk 09:48, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

US Centric

The article seems very US centric with the info box quoting US carrier and prices in US$. Is that just as it is out of date and was first released only in USA? Billlion (talk) 12:32, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The price shouldn't have been included at all as per WP:NOPRICES, hence I have removed it. YuMaNuMa Contrib 02:54, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The who article is US-centric IMO. Worldwide, this is called the Motorola RAZR, it is only called the DROID RAZR on Verizon Wireless in the US. I don't think that it is appropriate to remove the "Motorola" from the name of these devices. Shritwod (talk) 14:55, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
