Moholmen Lighthouse was originally built in 1914. The original tower was moved to the island of Tranøy in Hamarøy Municipality in 1936. A new tower was built at Moholmen, and that tower was automated in 1974. The current tower is 13.3 metres (44 ft) tall, and at the top there is a white, red or green light (depending on direction), occulting twice every 8 seconds. The 54,900-candela light can be seen for up to 13.5 nmi (25.0 km; 15.5 mi). The white tower is cast iron and built in a square pyramidal shape.[3][4]
