History

HoYoverse, operated by Cognosphere Pte., Ltd., was established in 2021.[7] On February 14, 2022, the company announced its foray into global game publishing by taking over the publishing of several titles developed by miHoYo, including Honkai Impact 3rd, Tears of Themis, and Genshin Impact. HoYoverse stated its goal is "to create and deliver an immersive virtual world experience to players worldwide through a variety of entertainment services."[8]

On July 18, 2022, HoYoverse announced the establishment of its headquarters in Singapore. According to the official announcement, "the Singapore office will serve as a key hub for HoYoverse's global distribution and operation efforts, working closely with other offices and providing technical support for game development." Additionally, the company has set up offices in Los Angeles, Montreal, Tokyo, and Seoul.[9][10]

In 2022, HoYoverse appointed Jim Yang, a former General Manager of Supercell (China), as its President, residing in Singapore.[11]

The company continued its publishing journey on April 26, 2023, as it released Honkai: Star Rail. In this turn-based role-playing game, players take on the role of Trailblazer, an individual implanted with a powerful artifact, the Stellaron. Players unravel the mysteries surrounding the Cancer of All Worlds and Aeons. The game features fantasy elements with myths and legends integrated into a space sci-fi story.[12][13]

On July 4, 2024, HoYoverse released its latest title, Zenless Zone Zero, a free-to-play urban fantasy action role-playing game, in which contemporary civilization has been ravaged by a catastrophe referred to as the Hollows. Only one metropolis, New Eridu, managed to withstand the disaster. It leverages vital technology and resources to combat the Hollow threat. Within New Eridu, players assume the role of a Proxy, an expert adept in navigating the perilous Hollow terrains, offering guidance to those who have to enter these dangerous zones.[14][15]
