This graph is misleading at best without any comparison to the population growth. Even better would be a graph of the rate of incarceration: ideally separate plots for the rates of several age brackets. 216.80.135.50 (talk) 06:10, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Population growth...that could be done...but it is an accurate graph otherwise.Smallman12q (talk) 00:19, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well it would be easier just to do the graph as the number in prison as a percentage of the total population. Clearly though the huge spike after ~1980 goes well beyond normal population growth. Theshibboleth (talk) 05:22, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

4 years old: it needs an update

This is getting old. What has changed in the last 4 years? Could someone update this?

Scaled to deceive the eye

The distance along the horizontal axis from 2000 to 2006 is the same as for the ten year segments. I wish we had an official table so that we could draw a correct graph ourselves. melikamp (talk) 03:40, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

fixed time scale

I decreased the horizontal extent of the 2000-2006 time period by 40% but I don't know how to upload to Wikipedia :(
