Summary
DescriptionTim Davis Snowdon Race 2005.jpg
English: "North Wales. Shown here is the eventual winner of the annual International Snowdon Race of 2005 Tim Davis. The course starting from Llanberis goes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at 3,650 ft, the highest mountain in England or Wales, and returns to Llanberis. It uses the popular tourist path, the Llanberis Path, one of the seven recognised routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. The race takes in 3,000 ft of elevation and is 10 miles long. There are some smooth sections on the Llanberis Path but much of it is as you see here and steeper as well.
The current records for the run, an event that attracts 500 mountain runners are Men 1985 K Stuart 1hr 2 minutes 29 seconds and Women 1993 I Holmes 1 hour 12 minutes 48 seconds.
This runner, Tim Davis took 43 minutes 36 seconds for the ascent and 22 minutes 59 seconds for the descent making a total time of 1 hour six minutes 36 seconds. My personal best for the Llanberis Path is 1 hour 5 minutes for the ascent (by train of course, I’m may be a Wrinkly but I am not silly) and five hours for the descent. I was carrying a camera whereas Tim Davis is not so the camera may have slowed me down.
