Summary

Description
English: A cellular lysate is split into control (vehicle) and treatment (compound) groups. Each group is split into aliquots, and each aliquot is heated to a different temperature. As the sample temperature increases, proteins denature and precipitate out of solution. When a test compound is added, target proteins are protected from denaturation by ligand-induced stabilization. After heating, soluble proteins in the supernatant are quantified. Quantification of proteins allows for the generation of protein melting curves. When melting curves shift to the right, a protein is thought to be stabilized by the treatment compound.
