Summary

Description
English: Segment descriptor format for a protected mode segment descriptor on 286-compatible CPUs. The italic fields are added in the 32-bit protected mode of the 80386 processor
  • S: System segment (0: System, 1: code or data)
  • DPL: Descriptor privilege level
  • P: Segment present
  • A: Freely available for use by system software
  • DB: Default operand size (0: 16 bit, 1: 32 bit)
  • G: Granularity of segment limit (0: segment limit counts bytes, 1: segment limit counts 4-KiB units)
  • Type: Describes what type a segment is? Such as if it is a code segment or not, OR whether it is operating under read, write or execute privileges etc.,
