Das Slum Dharavi liegt sehr zentral in der Stadt Mumbai. Aus diesem Grund ist der Boden, auf dem die einfachen Behausungen stehen, extrem wertvoll. Pläne, diesen Stadtteil abzureißen und von Grund auf neu zu bauen, wurden verschoben. Nach anfänglicher Euphorie tauchten Fragen auf, was mit den Menschen und dem Gewerbe, die sich hier etabliert haben, passieren wird. Den Menschen mit Besitzanspruch wurden zwar Wohnungen in dem neuen Stadtteil versprochen, jedoch befürchten die Leute, dass dem Gewerbe nicht mehr wie gehabt nachgegangen werden kann. Man darf nicht vergessen, dass viele Leute mit ihrem Betrieb in Dharavi sehr reich geworden sind. Besitzansprüche sind also sehr wohl vorhanden. Zudem darf man nicht vergessen, dass hier für eine Stadt überlebenswichtige Arbeiten geleistet werden, wie zum Beispiel die Müllentsorgung. Die Stadt selber kümmert sich nicht um eine ausreichende Müllentsorgung und man ist sich nicht sicher, was passieren würde, wenn man dieses Gewerbe in Dharavi schließen würde. |
