Description |
Svenska: "John Blund". English: "John Blund". The story room in Stockholm City Library with the artist Nils Dardel's (1888-1943) fresco "John Blund" (1927), where the sleeping boy is reminiscent of Dardel's earlier work "The Dying Dandy". The characters in the painting come from different fairy tales, but some are also fantasized by Dardel himself. Several of them are said to have similarities with people in Stockholm society in Dardel's time. The man on the right who is accompanied by a cat must be Dardel's father-in-law, a man named von Klinckowström. "Sankt Göran och draken" is a symbol for Stockholm as well as for fairy tales. |
