Summary

Description Rescued this beetle from my water butt this morning and it was covered with lots of mites, these benefit from a free ride to the next meal. Usually a dead mammal or bird which the mites attack and eat the maggots which would compete with the beetles eggs it will lay in the carcase. I placed it in a sunny position on my oil tank and it proceeded to clean itself but didn't try to flick off the other insects on its head .and after 10 minutes it flew off.
