Summary

Description
English: Animation showing the main differences between the Mexican and Italian Flags.

It is a common mistake to incorrectly use the Italian flag as the base of construction for the Mexican flag. This happens due to the fact that people wrongly believe the only difference between the two flags is the Mexican coat of arms.

Both flags use the same colors, but the flag of Mexico has darker shades of green and red. Most importantly, the aspect ratio (proportions) of each flag give each one a unique look. The flag of Mexico aspect ratio is 4:7, resulting in a longer shape, while the Italian flag is 2:3, more square in shape.
