Description
Sugar cutters of forged iron or steel. An eyelet catch at the end of the j curved handles locks the scissor action of the cutters closed. A one inch peg part way up on the handle is not curved to fit the thumb and may have been used to pulverize the sugar. The fulcrum is decorated with simple lines and sawtoothed marks which follow the lines of the cutter and appear to be hand tooled.; - "Only one hundred years ago candy was a verb meaning to serve with sugar. When you ate candy it was raw sugar scissored from a loaf." Mr. Sloane sketches a cutter nearly identical to this. # engraved on the inside handle with peg.
