  • Re-establishing the beast: an investigation into the spatiotemporal evolution of the Y5 phase of the Taupō 232±10 CE eruption, New Zealand: a thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of a Philosophiae Doctor degree in Earth Science, Volcanic Risk Solutions, School of Agriculture and Environment (Thesis)[1], Massey University, New Zealand, 2023

The three unlabeled vents relating to 232 CE eruption and later Waitahanua Bank vent are according to the work of Tapscott 2023 are from south to north:

  1. Y1 and Y3 phases of the 232 CE eruption
  2. Horomatangi Reefs which is now Y2 and Y5 of the 232 CE eruption as well as post 232 CE vent
  3. Waitahanui Bank, a post 232 CE vent
  4. Y4 phase of the 232 CE eruption

Previous work (1980) had initially one vent for the 232 CE eruption, then several and suggested up to 5 recent vents. All locations and outlines are approximate in this figure.
