Summary
DescriptionIddingsite.JPG
English: A mantlexenolith of peridotite, showing chemical weathering of olivine (green) to iddingsite (brown). The most likely cause of this alteration (or difference in amount of alteration) is the fracture surface: the rock was fractured first exposing the right side of the peridotite, then later, the left side, keeping it fresher and less chemically weathered.
