English: Natural habitat of a large population of the European Medicinal Leech, Hirudo medicinalis. The species prefers eutrophic, submerged weedy waters (dominant plants in the open water here: Potamogeton natans, Potamogeton acutifolius).
Deutsch: Natürlicher Lebensraum einer für mitteleuropäische Verhältnisse wohl ungewöhnlich großen Population des Medizinischen Blutegels (Hirudo medicinalis). Hier kommt ein Bestand der Art in dreistelliger Individuenzahl vor. Beim Durchwaten des Gewässers klebten schon nach wenigen Sekunden Dutzende von Egeln an den Stiefeln (siehe verlinkte Fotos unten). Bevorzugt werden eutrophe, submers reich verkrautete Gewässer – in diesem Fall ist es im offenen Wasser vor allem Laichkraut (Potamogeton natans und Potamogeton acutifolius). |
