DescriptionHillman GT (37366292652).jpg
Hillman GT, (refer Hillman GT sales brochure, twitter.com/addict_car) as produced by Chrysler Australia. It was developed from the Singer Chamois Sport, a variant of the British Hillman Imp. The GT, which was released in April 1967, was never badged or referred to by Chrysler Australia as a Hillman Imp GT, but rather as the Hillman GT. (refer: Gavin Farmer, Great Ideas in Motion, A History of Chrysler in Australia 1946–81, pages 275-276)
The Hillman Imp was a compact, rear-engined saloon car built from 1963-76 to compete with the Mini. There were many badge engineered variants sold all over the world. Available in Standard, Deluxe or Super.
Rootes Australia assembled the Imp from 1964. In America, it was the Sunbeam Imp and in France, the Singer Chamois, both names also being used in the UK market.
