English: The red, white and green triband of 2:3 ratio created by superimposing the flag of Garhwal Kingdom on the flag of Kumaon Kingdom. The vertical red band represents the Kumaon division and the horizontal green band represents the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand. The horizontal white band represents the Himalayan mountain peaks of Uttarakhand. The alternative symbolism of the flag colours is red for courage, green for prosperity and white for peace.
