Summary

Description

Logo, trademark or vignette on the reverse of a studio photograph, by T & J Holroyd of Harrogate. The photographers were brothers Thomas Holroyd (1821–1904) and James Holroyd (c.1825–1874). Thomas was a portrait and landscape painter, and James was a photographer, both from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Although they were both credited, it was James who took most of the photographs.

Note: this vignette shows the photographic studio (and also the art studio) of the brothers Holroyd. It was then named Esplanade House, on the Esplanade (now called St Mary's Walk), Harrogate, England. The banner on the front of the building says, "Holroyd / Gallery of Art". There is possibly also a small banner on the frieze over the front porch, saying "Studio".
