English: Doppler ultrasonography of the portal vein in a 77 year old man with alcoholic cirrhosis. There is a mild decrease in flow velocity (less than 16 cm/s), which may indicate portal hypertension, although not enough for diagnosis in this case since the diameter of the vein was normal. There is mild pulsatility but not more than can be seen in healthy adults. |
