Summary

Description
English: A sliver of Antarctic ice showing hundreds of tiny trapped air bubbles. (The ice is illuminated with polarised light, producing the colourful effect). Air bubbles trapped in ice hundreds or even thousands of years ago are providing vital information about past levels of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere.
