English: Badami cave temples were carved into the stone mountain face in the 6th to 7th centuries. The last enhancements were to Jain cave 4 in 11th and 12th century.
The fort is more recent, and was built between 16th and 18th centuries during a period of Hindu-Muslim wars, with most recent additions to the fort by Tipu Sultan.
