Fawzi Mesmar (born March 16, 1985, in Saudi Arabia) is a Jordanian creative director and game designer. He has worked for companies such as Ubisoft[1], DICE (EA), King (Activision Blizzard), Gameloft, and Atlus (SEGA), among others.[2][3]

Career

Game Design

Mesmar has contributed to over 20 game titles, including the Battlefield franchise, Candy Crush franchise, and the Persona series.[4]

Leadership and Management

Mesmar has held leadership positions at various companies, managing teams across different projects.[5]

Writing

Mesmar authored Al-Khallab on the Art of Game Design, the first textbook on game design in Arabic.[6] He also co-authored the Men of Honor comic book series, which sold 5 million copies in the Middle East and North Africa.[7]

Public Speaking and Mentorship

Mesmar is a frequent speaker at global gaming conventions such as the GDC, NZGDC, and others.[8]

Education and Mentorship

Mesmar lectures at various game design schools, including Future Games in Stockholm, University of the Arts London, and others.[9] He is also a Google mentor and a jury member at the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) and Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA).

E-sports

In his youth, Mesmar was a competitive player, placing 3rd in the national finals of the World Cyber Games (WCG) in StarCraft: Brood War in 2010 and 5th in the national finals of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition in 2012.[10]
