Thoughts on your chart draft

Hi StepYoshi. While you are waiting to hear more on the discussion about the acceptance of Draft:World Digital Song Sales at Talk:Billboard charts, I wanted to add some thoughts here for you about the Draft itself.

All of your citations (or sources) for the Draft are considered "primary" sources, WP:PSTS. I have looked for some "secondary" citations you may add to describe the chart. This citation [1] does not give the exact name "World Digital Song Sales", but describes all the recently (dated April 6, 2010, soon after chart was launched) added " digital genre song charts" and includes "World - "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"/"What a Wonderful World" Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'Ole", which refers to your chart. (This is a subscribed Billboard article. If you can't view it, but would like to add it to your draft, let me know and I will add the information and citation.)

Also this citation, [2], at a minimum, cites 500 weeks on the chart for "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". You could use both citations in the Introduction of your page. There are also some secondary K-pop related citations you may Google for Psy, BTS and Blackpink.

Another thought, if you do not expect to expand the main section on the chart's history, you might re-name the Draft to make it a List page, which might work better as there seem to be few citations referencing the chart itself. Re-naming to something like any of the pages shown here [3] could work. Perhaps a name like "List of World Digital Song Sales chart achievements" or "chart achievements and milestones".....as you have listed more than the "number one" songs.

I hope this helps. I think you have done a wonderful job on the Draft and really appreciate your efforts! If you have questions, you may Talk to me here or at my Talk page.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 02:38, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thank you vey much for the advice, it really helps since this is my first draft.
I added the two references that you suggested and I found two more for Blackpink and 2NE1, I will search for more but if you found something feel free to add them if you can, it would be really appreciated! Also, there are many articles about individual songs reaching number one on the chart, could it be a good idea to add these references on the table like those shown here [4]? In this way many weeks would also have a secondary citation.
I also thought about renaming the draft like you said, but before doing it I will try to expand a bit the main section. StepYoshi (talk) 14:41, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good job. Yes I would add the citations for the #1s and any other of the achievements. And, per WP, don't leave a space between citations.

Yes, I prefer it as a main article, too. With the secondary citations it should be fine. I will continue to look for anything else on the chart history itself. BB is frustrating sometimes with adding and discontinuing charts with no article or explanation. They just dropped some 15+ charts last week, that I've noticed, maybe more....with no explanation yet. Keep an eye on the charts, too, sometimes they have errors...it's a lot of data to keep straight. BTW...welcome to the wonderful world of Wikipedia!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 16:04, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I'm happy to be here and give my small contribution to Wikipedia! I added all the citations that I could find now about songs reaching the top spot, but I will try to search for more references and more to add. StepYoshi (talk) 19:35, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good, good. Now you pointed to List of Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles of 2019, which is a model List example, done by one of WP's premier music and music chart editors Ss112. You might have noticed there are no citations in the lead, which are not required for this section, with some exceptions, see MOS:LEADCITE, as long as the information is cited in the body of the article. But, for newbies like you, and I still do it, it is best to include citations, as you have, until you are more established on WP and have a few articles behind you.

I included pinging Ss112 (if you enclose the Users name in brackets it will notify them. On their own Talk page, you don't need to.) here to ask if he has time to look over your first draft, Draft:World Digital Song Sales too....and perhaps weigh in at Talk:Billboard charts#Separate article for World Digital Song Sales to get the stalled Discussion there moving a little. No worries that I am WP:CAN, Ss112 is a seasoned editor and above being influenced. Again, thanks for your contributions StepYoshi and thanks to Ss112 if you have a moment to spare.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 06:53, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Korea reliable sources

Hi again StepYoshi.....Sorry I didn't catch this before for you. WP Korea editors have previously put together a list of Reliable sources and Unreliable sources (like blogs, etc. and Soompi that you used is one of them). [5]. I added this BB citation that includes World Digital Songs and other charting [6] Also WP itself has WP:RS and another list of magazines, newpapers, etc., too [7] that might be helpful to you. Keep up the good work!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 00:26, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Sorry about that, my bad! I replaced the two other Soompi references with Billboard and Forbes articles. Thank you! StepYoshi (talk) 10:24, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Late charts

Hi StepYoshi, long time no talk, hope you are well. Yes the Billboard charts are later today than usual and there was no Monday holiday in the US. I logged in and even my Pro charts won't come up. So far I have found three up, Artist 100, BB Hot 100 and BB Global 200. The Artist 100 came up regular but I'm wondering if they they might be trying to change the format to a new style, found here on the newest chart BB Global 200 [8]......If so, it works for me, you can Search by "New" and "Re-Enter", like in the last format they used before the last switch to the fixed muted color circle buttons that don't allow a Search (plus the old hot colors for New and Re-Entries were best for searches!). Except the calendar and date Search on this new chart are not working. I gave up earlier and went to sleep for a while..... and figured you might be headed to bed soon and were waiting to do your weekly updates.

And, the two new global charts added in September Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S.....wondering how you find them compared to World Digital Song Sales....frankly not sure I understand the difference, other than the newer ones list a metrics of digital sales and streaming. BB never specified how they tallied the WDSS chart sales, right, or I never found the explanation. Just a guess, but I don't think the two new ones will stick around, too bulky. Anyway, it's past 4 pm in NYC and charts are still delayed...let's see what changes they come up with....oddly coming during the COVID-19 fiasco there.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 20:18, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bonnie! I'm well, thank you! Hope you are well too. Thank you for the message, the WDSS chart just updated for me and I don't see any changes, so who knows why it was delayed. Anyways, I saw the two new charts they added and I think the only differences with the existing one are that they are meant to be global instead of just US-based, and also I think the WDSS chart is more restricted in terms of genre, but I'm not really an expert on this. I think we will have to wait and see how the new ones evolve and if they actually stick around. StepYoshi (talk) 21:12, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
