Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Brian Plante, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. I've reviewed the edit here that prompted this message, and find it almost wholly in error. You gave a meaningful reason in the edit summary, etc. I'll be leaving a message on Dicklyon's talk with respect to this. - brenneman 03:38, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the reason given in the edit summary was not remotely valid. See WP:NOTE. Dicklyon (talk) 05:46, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the proper place to debate the edit summary (and the removal of the tags) is neither here on this user's talk page nor in your own edit summary while reverting. In future, if you disagree with someone's edits rather than reverting, templating, and debating after-the-fact, please use the (article) talk page first.

You're being absurd. Half of my edits are reverts, and I'm not going to the talk page for every simple revert of a bad edit. The edit summary is a perfectly OK place to say what was wrong with what I'm reverting. Dicklyon (talk) 06:26, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, Dicklyon, I found your insertion of the template, and your reversion of my removal of it, rather unconstructive. However, it was well within the bounds of normal diverging approaches to building our encyclopedia. I am rather concerned, however, that you felt the need to template me with a uw-delete2 template on this account's first edit, and made no effort at all at encouraging me to contribute. Both that, and your reaction above, are more in keeping with a "Go away, I'm right" mentality rather than "What impact will my actions have on others and the encyclopedia" mentality. However, a mountain has been made out of a molehill, and time to put this to rest. Best wishes, NewSolution (talk) 13:55, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, brenneman. As is probably clear, I am a reincarnation of a moderately active long term user (no recent major conflicts, no blocks ever). I hoped to start afresh, and the above rather clueless drive-by templating I'm afraid reinforced my opinion of the Wikipedia community being gradually overwhelmed by busybodies rather than thoughtful encyclopedia builders. While not a Big Thing, your more standard welcoming, and your involvement as a 3rd party in the above tempest in a teapot, did restore my faith a bit.
