Topic: there already exists a wikipedia article for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Our main purpose would be to add more information to the article by including more specific aspects of the program and being more detailed in the explanation of the process of guide dog training. The main reason for this is because guide dogs are very essential to a blind person's ability to be self-supporting. They do a lot of work and not only help them with their mobility, but also provide a sense of comfort and friendship for those that are blind.

This is a good topic, but as I said in class, you need to justify not just why guide dogs are important, but why this topic merits being a Wikipedia article. Sections: Training Procedures A day in the life of a dog, Volunteering Aspects (Raisers vs. Sitters) Birth to 10 weeks 10 weeks to 14 months 14 months and up Alternatives for dogs who don't graduate.

Good set of sections. In addition, you need to justify how you ensure this covers the topic. "Guiding eyes for the blind" is a school, whereas these sections seem to be general about guide dog training, unless this training is specific to this school. Other article elements: Pictures for sure! Who doesn't like pics of pups?? A side box could also include how many dogs have graduated from the program, how many dogs are currently undergoing training, and other professions the dogs go into that don't pass the test of becoming a guide dog.

Instructor's Feedback

You have a very good topic to cover, but as I have already said, there is some confusion about whether your topic is specific about the "guiding eyes for the blind" school or more general about training guide dogs. If the information you are going to write is something that is specific to the school, then it merits its own article. For example, if other schools don't have this division into birth-10 weeks; 10 weeks-14 months; 14 months and up, then this is something specific to this school.

In addition, it would be useful break the proposal into sections and improve the formatting (e.g., your sections got all jumbled up in one line) to improve the readability and help you practice on the Wikipedia markup language and styling.

Hey Jared. I just uploaded the first half of my stuff (i.e. puppy raising) more to come tomorrow. Could you also go and properly cite my references? In addition, we need to fix the intro on the actual page. We had decided to keep some of the info and we broke it down into the categories. Now we need to implement them into the categories we have. This mainly applies to Victoria and I but yea. Are you going to take care of that or should I? Let me know thanks! I'll also send you the photos.
