Is it ok if I replace old sigs (just my IP) with my brand-spanking new username? In other words, would anybody care besides me?

I agree it's probably as important as I could make it. I suppose if anybody else is really concerned, the IP could be matched with my username at login, and it's probably only pedagogically important, but I at least want to be transparent about such things.
