Your first source doesn’t provide a link directly to the main source of information in that paragraph. Your paragraph about the patch is not very specific as you state that the patch is designed to describe the life of a merchant mariner and the challenges of it. But how does it do that since it becomes a very confusing statement. The first few statements could use direct in text citations to show where you got the information. Your sources were not great as only one seems useable. Source one doesn't even have a proper link so I was unable to verify its usability. Source 2 was a solid article and wasn't entirely self published as it is on a U.S. Navy site. However they used information from the merchant marines website and had a link to it with a link to the store to purchase a patch making this source seem weak as it is kind of like an ad for the patch. With the paper coming from the merchant marines website there may be bias in the writing. When following the link to the website that the info was gathered from it seems like the source may or may not be reliable as the most recent editing was nearly a year ago. They ask for donations but never give any real contact information. They explicitly mention that they are not a government site. They do provide sources for information citing "Text and Disney Emblem contributed by Mark Gleeson of Pennsylvania Information about the artist supplied by Tom Horvitz" this is not really a reliable source as there is no info as to who the hell these people are. In the end this seems like an unreliable source. Source 3 was a government website giving it validity as it simply was to explain regulations and give some information on maritime academies. It seems like a legitimate source as it seems unable to push any product it is simply a page on regulations and is a reliable source.SoCalYooper (talk) 22:28, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
