I have added an hopefully effective header to the top of this page to stop people talking about matches and headbutting and who knows what else is not related to the actual article. request about my edit

Medcab

I joined very shortly after joining Wikipedia and after about 20 proper edits (maybe less). You just have to add yourself to the list and then try and help out where you can. There is no vetting of participants really. However I would say that I decided to stop mediating for the time being till I get a more respected presence here. You'll notice it does count, some of the med's have a presence all over wikipedia and users in mediation discussions will often recognise a user that they have met and liked before - so the discussion goes better! It's all a matter of trust and likability.

If you want to become a mediator thats cool because its the sort of tasks (like wikifying or copyediting etc) that are essential to wikipedia but can also be the most tiresome! (although often the most rewarding too). I'd advise you to join, take a few cases (say one or two a month at most) and see how it goes. As you gain experience and respect so it will become easier and more enjoyable to mediate - then you can take on all the cases at once and be swamped... *sigh*

Anyway thats just my opinion, I hope you decide to join the medcab! (I have to say I saw you joined VP and that reminded me to apply)

No you just add yourself to the list, then when you see a case you want to try mediating just reply in the mediators response box and change the category (as per instructions on the talk page) to 'open cases'.

Probably your best bet is to take a look through 10 or so of the current mediations going on (and maybe some of the closed ones) to get an idea of how to proceed with a mediation.

The best advice I can give you is to lay down ground rules for participants as son as you reply to their request. Make up a list of rules that they have to abide by - true you cant make them as it is an open discussion but at least they will be warned! Also make sure you post notices on all of the involved users talk pages and on the article page requesting their response and asking them to stop editing the article (if that is the problem of course). Make sure all participants (or at least the 2 main ones) have replied before starting the discussion proper.

Also (and this is the boring bit) read up all of the edit comments, the article, talk page discussion etc. that has so far been going on to get the full background or they will lose faith in you if you miss something during your analysis.

Finally never tell them what to do with the article, make sure they know it is "our unbiased opinion that the best way to proceed so that all parties are happy is..." then they are more likely to take your advice.

Oh and finally finally, never take sides,its not easy to remain impartial but if a user is being annoying and obtuse it doesn't necessairily mean their wrong (I made that mistake). Try to find a solution that everyone is happy with and meets them all halfway (sically encourage them to compromise) - unless it is the case where one side is definitely and irrovocably (??) correct and the other side isn't...

If you need any help with a med case then I will be happy to sit in and help, let me know when you take your first case and I'lll drop in and see how it goes for you :D. I dont mediate at the moment as I cant get regular enough net access to make it easy ( and as I said before I'm building up community respect too) but I will still be around for intermittent advice...

Civility is only present where it is due. We, as RC patrollers, are instructed to remove vandalism, as we do not want it on Wikipedia. Therefore, by this action, we are basically saying "no, your views are not accepted on Wikipedia". Also, I would like to draw your attention to a certain, administrator-sanctioned page, called bad jokes or other nonsense. Surely calling someone's edits "nonsense" is basically the same as what I did above, and yet...oh, look at that...Maveric149, administrator, member of the Arbitration Committee - only one of 14 - created and sanctioned it. Elonka article

Seems we have a problem... I saw your note on User talk:Rattle1337 about how his edit was out of line and then you chastised me for making unfair assumptions. Well, guess what, Google the name of the guy listed on his user page in combination with Elonka and you will see that they are friends. He most certainly should not be editing that article, and with his lack of edit history it's all but certain he is a meat puppet.

But what is odd is that after I reverted back to the better version of that article, User:Can't sleep, clown will eat me came along and reverted it and protected the page... This sort of action is not at all how things have been done here, as protected pages are only for cases of real vandalism and for continuing ones. It appears that this guy is making some very poor decisions and ought to be overruled... furthermore that person's talk page is locked so I could not communicate with him directly about it. If he's already protecting the page after a quick exchange of edits, especially for something that is not vandalism related, he is way, way beyond acceptable behavior. 172.144.114.109 06:22, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

All I did was make a series of related edits on a few related pages yesterday, because the same problems were found on multiple pages (i.e. Elonka added herself/had a friend add her to a number of articles inappropriately). How on earth this can be considered stalking is beyond me. Irregardless of this strange little stalking idea you've cooked up/someone came up with, the policies involved here do not allow you to take the steps you have. Just as a note of context, the set of anon vandal edits involved probably has to do with a popular cyberculture webcast called "Binary Revolution". I was a co-host on the program this week, and talked (very supportively, imho) about Wikipedia [1]. However, evidently as an unfortunate result, there's been an increase in anonymous attention/vandalism on all of the BinRev-related articles, such as: Binary Revolution, Stankdawg, Strom Carlson, Black Ratchet, Digital DawgPound, my own bio, Elonka Dunin, and even the page of my high school. I'll admit that some of the vandalism edits are clever, such as by blanking an article to turn it into a redirect, while using an edit summary of "reverting to last good version".[2] But they're vandalism nonetheless, with some social engineering attacks thrown in. --Elonka 07:11, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Your name popped up as a "defender of justice" against an IP address that's currently involved in a reversion war going on at Inuyasha media and release information. Three reasons:

* The obvious one - it obviously doesn't mean Pizza Hut Delivery

* It is advertising, and to do this you are blanking a perfectly good page

* Your edits violate a large number of Wiki policies, and you didn't use an edit summary to explain these mass-edits.

Image license

Hi, it looks like you have the wrong license for Image:Valentin Ivanov Red Card.jpg and Image:Viduka Tackle.jpg. You used {{newspapercover}} but the license only covers images that show a newspaper article or a cover in its entirety. And fair use is only valid when you're using it to discuss the newspaper itself, not what's in the article. In any case, for copyrighted images like this, you have to provide a fair use rationale, which you haven't, and news photos generally aren't allowed on Wikipedia anyway.

Pretty much, yes. The license applies to pictures of newspapers, not pictures from newspapers. I think you can still present a fair use rationale for the Viduka pic though, since one could argue that you need the photo to illustrate the "rugby tackle". But you need to provide detailed source information for the picture (i.e. photo agency/photographer the copyright belongs to, the issue of the newspaper it was published in, etc). I saw your question on Talk:Main_Page#3RR and RC Patrollers. Simple vandalism is exempt from 3RR; see WP:3RR#Reverting vandalism for more information. It wouldn't be a bad idea to skim through WP:3RR for your own reference. Incidentally, I removed your question from Talk:Main Page, as that is intended for discussion of the main page. Thanks for uploading Image:Viduka Tackle.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use.
