August 2019: Student editor, please get adequate supervision
Hello, Bizabeth. I have just spent an hour fixing the mess you made at the article Trichuris trichiura. Apparently, English is not your primary language, and apparently your instructor is not a microbiologist; you have asserted that Trichuris trichiura is a protozoa. Maybe you cannot tell the word "protozoa" from "parasite", but they are not the same thing, and Wikipedia is much the worse for your erroneous contributions. Further, you did not understand how to cite sources properly, and I had to look up, read and re-cite one of them, and remove the "Carolyn Pomeroy" citations completely, as a PhD student's name, alone, is rarely enough for a citation on Wikipedia or elsewhere.
My hope is that your class is finished and that you will be leaving Wikipedia editing to those who better understand how it works. Sad to say, from what I can see, your class taught you very little.--Quisqualis (talk) 23:13, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- Quisqualis, Hi, not sure how I missed this as I typically have all student user pages watchlisted. I did want to come back to this, though:
- I'm sorry you had to invest your time to fix these errors. In the future, please ping the Wikipedia Expert associated with their course. We want to put as little a strain on unpaid volunteers as possible, and I would have been more than happy to fix the student errors.
- Your response to this very new editor was not helpful. Whether your intention or not, it came across as callous and bite-y. Please assume good faith in the future.
