-Cabot Rings have been found in patients with lead poisoning, cancer (specifically Leukemia) and a form of jaundice brought on by alcohol abuse. -Cabot Rings have also been found in medical patients who are taking Cystostatics; substances which hinder cell growth and production. - -Cabot Rings are not commonly found in the blood circulating throughout the body - -Cabot Rings, considerably rare findings, when present are found in the cytoplasm of red blood cells and in most cases, are caused by defects of erythrocytic production [1] [2] [3]
