Format

Local Food Hero is a food orientated television programme hosted and judged by celebrity chefs Gary Rhodes, Ollie Rowe and Rosemary Shrager. The programme is currently shown on the UKTV Food channel in the UK. The show's premise is to find, promote and award small independent food businesses in the United Kingdom. Businesses from 10 regional areas of the UK are first nominated by the public on the UKTV Food web site, and can later vote for who they think should win in each round, with the overall winner receiving £40,000.[1]

Changes

The first season would have a celebrity "regional scout" visit eight businesses in their locality, who they would talk to and sample their produce. The scout would then choose their favourite three who would then go on to the regional finals, where the three chefs and judges would pick their first second and third placed contestant, the winner of the regional heat would then be chosen by combining the judge's and public votes.

The second season saw a slight change where five finalists our chosen to go on the regional finals.[2]
