US Senate term

Since Purtell was appointed to fill Brien McMahon's term, wouldn't that also include up to January 3, 1953? I am assuming that term of McMahon didn't conclude on election day, 1952, but rather January 3, 1953, right? I must be confused, as the sources clearly outline his tenure. Just seems very atypical, but then again I'm not familiar with CT election practices. --PerpetuityGrat (talk) 15:34, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
