Requested Changes to the Wikipedia Page for W. R. Grace & Co.

Hello, I am an employee in the Communications group at W. R. Grace & Co. We appreciate how difficult it must be to keep company information current, and while there is much that has changed, we ask that you address the most important inaccurate statements on the Wikipedia page for Grace.

As you are able, we ask that you make the following changes, (based primarily on public filings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission referenced at the end.)

Company name and description

1. The name of the company is “W. R. Grace & Co.” (not “W.R. Grace and Company”) and Grace is no longer a “conglomerate[1]” (“two or more companies engaged in entirely different businesses”) as it was under the leadership of J. Peter Grace many years ago.

In the first paragraph, may we suggest:

W. R. Grace & Co. is an international specialty chemicals and materials company based in Columbia, Maryland. Grace is divided into three operating segments—Refining Technologies, Specialty Chemicals, and Materials Technologies. The company spun off its construction products and packaging business (to form an independent public company, GCP Applied Technologies Inc.) in 2016. Grace has approximately 3,700 employees in nearly 30 countries with customers in approximately 60 countries. Annual sales are more than US $ 2 billion. The company’s stock, listed in 1953, trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:GRA).

2. Because the company spun off its construction and packaging business in 2016, please delete the last three bullets under “Subsidiaries and products:”

  • “Grace Construction Products

-concrete admixtures, fibers, and grinding aids -concrete pigments -air and vapor barriers -fireproofing materials -bituminous, structural, waterproofing membranes (such as Roofing Underlayments and waterproofing materials)

  • Darex

-coatings, closures and sealants for soft drink cans and canned foods

  • Residential Building Materials

-roofing membranes and flashings for windows, doors, decks and roof detail areas”

3. Change the content under “Subsidiaries and products” to read:

Grace’s three operating segments—Refining Technologies, Specialty Catalysts, and Materials Technologies—are grouped within the company’s two financial reporting segments, which, along with their products include:

  • Grace Catalysts Technologies

-Refining Technologies including FCC catalysts and hydroprocessing catalysts -Specialty Catalysts, including polypropylene and polyethylene catalysts and process technology licensing

  • Grace Materials Technologies including silica and fine chemicals for pharmaceutical products.

Logo with tagline and other company name references

4. Please correct the legal name of the company used throughout the wiki page – it should be “W. R. Grace & Co.” (or on second reference: “Grace”). In 2014, the company updated its tagline to: Talent, Technology, Trust™ An updated logo with tagline is found here: https://grace.com/en-us/newsroom/logo-and-images

References: Confirmation of all of the above changes can be found in the company’s 2016 and 2017 FORM 10-K Annual Reports filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and posted on the company’s website.

W. R. Grace Wikipedia page is very outdated

Hello,

I work in the Communications department of W. R. Grace & Co. A lot of the information listed here is outdated. For example, we have a new CEO, Hudson La Force. Other outdated information can be found in the previous submissions posted on this talk page. I recognize that as an employee I am someone who has a conflict of interest, but can I make the edits myself on the page? What would be an efficient way for important changes to be captured, many of which can be referenced by SEC.gov?
