Q1: Why does the article refer to the Titanic as "she/her" rather than "it/its"?
A1: Per WP:SHE4SHIPS, the vessel is referred to with feminine pronouns. This is not to be changed without consensus. For discussion of Wikipedia's internal inconsistency and divergence with Encyclopedia Britannica's usage on this point, see Huddleston, Pullum, & Reynolds (2022), A Student's Introduction to English Grammar, 2nd ed., Cambridge: CUP, p. 14-16.
This article is written in British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Starboard view of Titanic
Why do we have this drawing of Titanic with Cunard hull colors?? And white name and red ensign, just to name a couple. Can this just be taken out of the article until a better one can be found? Ironmatic1 (talk) 10:07, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I agree, I found a site called '36 ft Dream' that has accurate titanic design plans with clear identifications and it is properly detailed but most of them are in a PDF format and I have them converted to PNG versions of it. I did uploaded a fileMisterUnderscoreShoyeb (talk) 05:56, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That site and that image both show copyrights. Do we have permission to use them on Wiki? Dcheney (talk) 10:28, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my bad, I don't think so and it's the best I could find. MisterUnderscoreShoyeb (talk) 14:00, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ships are not women
The article refers to the ship as "She" when it is, in fact, an inanimate object. If it must be anthropomorphized, no gender can, nor should be, assigned to it arbitrarily. The ship is either an "it" or a "They" 66.23.113.178 (talk) 04:23, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Female pronouns for ships is maritime tradition. It's not meant as a slur. 57.135.233.22 (talk) 11:57, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This argument has cropped up many times on this Talk page over the years (see the archives) - perhaps an FAQ should be added here I've just added an FAQ to the header here. Per WP:SHE4SHIPS: Ships may be referred to by either feminine pronouns ("she", "her") or neuter pronouns ("it", "its"). Either usage is acceptable, but each article should be internally consistent and exclusively employ only one style. (By way of comparison, Wikipedia also has many references to countries and cities as "she", e.g. "Britain and her allies"; "Tokyo and her sister city New York", etc.) Muzilon (talk) 23:45, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Acroterion: Presumably the article section labeled "Appendix"
@Cadenslashdylanlikeszaza: You need to be specific about what changes you are asking for. Use the format "Change X to Y" The diagrams in the Appendix seem to match the description in Dimensions and layout section where there are decks A-G. RudolfRed (talk) 22:51, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, I've never encountered a section with that title. I've retitled it to something more descriptive. Acroterion(talk) 00:35, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
F Deck, the middle deck, was the last complete deck, sunk 2024
accommodated Second and Third Class passengers and several departments of the crew.[...]
G Deck, the lower deck, was the lowest complete deck that carried passengers, and had the lowest portholes, just above the waterline.
[...]
If "from top to bottom," F is the "last complete deck", how is G also a complete deck?
This needs some clarification. 100.2.99.250 (talk) 18:17, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also wonder what is meant by a "complete deck". It's apparently not the same as "run uninterrupted from stem to stern" because that's C deck. GA-RT-22 (talk) 13:32, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it means that the deck itself (as in "hit the deck!") extends continuously from bow to stern in some way, without transverse interruption. This image illustrates what I mean. If that's what is meant, then G deck is indeed the lowest complete deck, whereas decks lower than that are transversely interrupted by the boiler spaces. Having said all of that, the article text is ill-defined and clearly contradictory, so I'm in favor of just removing those qualifiers until a source can clear it up.Orange Suede Sofa (talk) 04:49, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Edit request, 24 Dec 2023
"Majestic resumed her old position on the White Star Line's New York service post the loss of Titanic" -- using "post" instead of "after" (outside set phrases like post hoc) is stuffy and pretentious, and confusing since "post" has other meanings in English. Simply replace with "after". (Also, there is a stray extra apostrophe in this sentence.) 86.152.171.24 (talk) 04:17, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Rehsarb (talk) 17:51, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should this be moved under RMS Titanic?
It would be more consistent with the other ships, such as the RMS Olymipic. 82.197.13.175 (talk) 16:33, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See "Requested move 1 July 2023" above? Has been discussed many times. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:38, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
